1. What
is Tae Bo and what does Tae Bo stand for?
Tae Bo is a basic exercise blended together with ballet, karate,
Tae Kwan Do, boxing, hip-hop dancing and weight training with everything
combined into one.
In TAE BO, the T stands for total, A stands for awareness, E for Excellence, B for Body, and O stands for Obedience.

2. How often should I
do Tae Bo & how
soon should I move to the advanced tape?
That depends on you and your body. You should start slowly, especially
if you have not exercised in awhile. Give your body time to rest
and listen to what it is telling you. Billy recommends 3 times
a week on average. Once you are used to about 30 minutes 3 times
a week, you may increase to 3-5 or 3-6 days a week. You should
take at least one day off to let your body rest. Spend as much
time as necessary with the Instructional, then the basic until
you have the moves and techniques down completely. Go at your
own pace!
3. I've been doing the
basic tape for one month and am getting bored, but I'm scared
to try the advanced tape. Any suggestions?
Varying your workout by trying other routines is highly recommended.
If you can afford to, owning a variety of Tae Bo tapes will make
things much more interesting. Try some outdoors activities, and
add in some weight lifting if possible.
4. What do you do to keep
Tae Bo fresh?
Billy has recommended taking off the labels on your tapes, and
just randomly picking one. Try a different type of exercise
when you get bored. Take a live class (if you are near one).
Set new goals, join a fitness support group online, or hang
out at our Forum. The Fan's Page Forum is
very motivational, and it's free to join in.
5. Where can I take live
Tae Bo Classes? Where do I find Tae Bo Certified Instructors? Billy
Blanks' Tae Bo Center is in in Los Angeles, CA (Billy Blanks
World Training Center). There are also instructors across the
U.S. that have been certified by Billy himself. For a list
of officially certified instructors (in Adobe .pdf), click HERE.
6. What kind of results can I expect
from Tae Bo and how many calories does it burn?
First, remember you didn't get out of shape in 1 month, it may
take longer to get back into it. You will see great physical
results if you commit to doing Tae Bo. Toning can be seen early
on - in the legs and arms. Tae Bo also works your abs quite well.
As far as calorie burn, that varies depending on your age, height,
weight, and physical fitness level. You can expect to burn approximately
200-400 calories per half hour of Tae Bo.
7. Help! I have been doing Tae Bo
faithfully for one month and have not yet lost any weight... Remember,
no exercise program that will keep the weight off permanently
is going to help you lose all 30 pounds in one month. It is
also unhealthy to do so. A healthy weight loss rate is at about
1-2 pounds per week (this may be higher for people who are
largely overweight, as they burn calories quicker the first
few months). You also need to decide to commit to exercise
for life, and Tae Bo if that's what you choose. You cannot
expect instant miracles, but if you set a goal and work towards
it you will see results.
8. Do you recommend dieting with Tae
Bo?
Dieting is probably the wrong word. You do need to learn to eat
healthy though - less carbs, less fat, and more protein. Do not
deprive yourself of your favorite treats! Just remember to use
moderation. You cannot eat whatever you want all the time - or
you will not burn the calories needed to lose fat. But also remember
that when you work out, you need to feed your body because you
are burning calories. Skipping meals and starving yourself will
cause your body to go into a starvation mode, where it will hoard
fat cells and hold on to them.
9. Is it OK to cross train with Tae
Bo? What exercises go well with taebo?
Sure. In fact, it's recommended to cross train in general. If
you do a certain exercise for a long period of time, your body
can become 'lazy', finding the most efficient way to complete
the program. Weight training is highly recommended, building
muscle makes for great fat burning
10. How does a person
get certified to teach Tae Bo?
Billy has a certification program. Go to Team
Tae Bo for current information.
11. How many tapes are there?
